Tangible strategies for coping with school stressors

 

Overview

  • Four individual sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and conducted via secure video platform

  • Information about skills learned emailed after each session

  • Brief check-in's between sessions to assess progress and answer any questions

PROGRAM outline 

  • Consultation - Free 20 minute exploratory phone call. We are happy to answer any questions you have about our services.

  • Session 1 - Calming the body. Understand how your brain and body respond to stressors. Identify ways to manage the physical symptoms through grounding exercises and relaxation strategies.

  • Session 2 - School-life balance. Create a time management plan for meeting competing priorities. Implement strategies to increase motivation and energy.

  • Session 3 - Power of thoughts. Explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Implement strategies for reducing avoidance and procrastination.

  • Session 4 - Calming the mind. Use a variety of strategies to calm the mind. Implement tools such as mindfulness, containment and compartmentalizing to increase focus.

  • Further support (as needed). Further support available as needed, to continue exploring time and stress management skills throughout the school year.

  • Follow-up - Free follow-up phone call with caregiver one week after the program is finished to check in on progress.

Cost 

  • $150 per 50-minute session

  • Each session billed separately, with no obligation to continue

  • Reimbursement may be available through extended health insurance
