Anxiety Reduction Program
This program provides teens with foundational skills and tangible strategies for managing anxiety and uncertainty.
Overview
- Five individual sessions, 50 minutes in duration 
- Sessions conducted via secure video platform 
- Information about skills learned and resources emailed after each session 
Program outline
Consultation - Free 15 minute exploratory phone call. The clinician will inquire about the impact that anxiety is having on a teen’s life and identify ways to tailor the program to help meet identified goals.
Session 1 - Anxiety education. Gain a better understanding of what anxiety is and its impact on teens. This session provides an overview of prevention and intervention coping strategies for managing anxiety.
Session 2 - Anxiety in the body. Explore the signs and symptoms of anxiety. This session identifies ways to manage the physical symptoms of anxiety through relaxation strategies.
Session 3 - Anxious thoughts. Explore the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This session provides strategies for identifying anxious thoughts and preventing them from spiralling.
Session 4 - Reframing anxious thoughts. Challenge negative thinking to reduce anxiety. This session will provide strategies for reframing anxious thoughts into more realistic, helpful ones.
Session 5 - Facing Fears. Create a coping plan for managing anxious thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This session identifies the participant's strengths and explores ways to face anxious situations with confidence.
Follow-up - Brief follow-up phone call, free of charge, to check on progress.
