Support for Teens

If you’re a teen feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to handle what’s going on, or you’re supporting a teen who is struggling, it can be hard to know what might actually help.

Counselling support can make a real difference, and you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

You may be noticing:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or easily frustrated

  • Changes in mood, withdrawal, or irritability

  • Difficulty with motivation, focus, or schoolwork

  • Low confidence or negative self-talk

  • Sensitivity to feedback or challenges in friendships

A lot of what teens go through is connected to navigating change, pressure, and figuring out who they are. With the right support, teens can begin to better understand themselves, feel more confident, and move through challenges with greater clarity.

How I Work with Teens

Sessions are tailored to each teen’s personality, goals, and comfort level. I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where teens can talk openly, feel understood, and develop practical ways to navigate challenges.

Support may include:

  • Understanding thoughts, emotions, and patterns

  • Learning ways to manage stress and strong emotions

  • Building confidence and self-esteem

  • Developing coping and problem-solving skills

  • Strengthening communication and relationships

There’s no pressure to share everything at once. Sessions move at a pace that feels comfortable, focusing on what feels most important.

ADHD & Executive Functioning Support

I support teens with ADHD and related challenges in ways that work with their unique brain, rather than against it.

This work includes:

  • Understanding how their brain works

  • Strengthening organization, time management, and follow-through

  • Managing emotional intensity and sensitivity to feedback

  • Building routines and strategies that support school and daily life

Sessions focus on practical strategies that help make school, routines, and daily life feel more manageable.

Working Together with Caregivers

Respecting a teen’s privacy is an important part of the counselling process. Sessions are a space where teens can speak openly and build trust at their own pace. When appropriate, caregiver involvement may be included in a thoughtful and collaborative way. This helps support progress outside of sessions while still respecting the teen’s comfort and boundaries.

This may include:

  • Occasional check-ins to share general themes or strategies

  • Guidance on supporting communication and connection

  • Practical tools to support your teen at home

The goal is to support both the teen and their environment, while maintaining a space where they feel safe, understood, and respected.
