Support for your child
If a child is struggling with big feelings, frustration, or day-to-day challenges, it can be hard to know how best to support them. You’re not alone. Many caregivers find themselves unsure of what will make the biggest difference. Counselling can help.
You may be noticing:
Frequent emotional outbursts
Difficulty managing frustration or transitions
Challenges with focus, routines, or listening
Worries, anxiety, or low confidence
Sensitivity to feedback or perceived rejection
These challenges are often connected to how a child experiences and processes the world. With the right support, children can begin to better understand their emotions, feel more confident, and develop skills that carry into daily life.
How I work with Children
Sessions are tailored to your child’s age, personality, and needs. I use a warm, engaging approach to help children better understand their emotions and develop skills they can use now and in the future.
Support may include:
Building emotional awareness and coping skills
Learning ways to manage frustration and strong reactions
Strengthening confidence and problem-solving
Supporting social skills and communication
Helping children make sense of their thoughts and feelings
The first session is a parent-only session, allowing space to understand your child’s needs and plan for meaningful, personalized support.
ADHD & Executive Functioning Support
I support children with ADHD and related challenges in ways that work with their unique brain, rather than against it.
This work focuses on:
Helping children understand how their brain works
Strengthening organization and follow-through
Supporting emotional regulation and sensitivity to feedback
Building routines and strategies that support daily life
Sessions focus on practical, real-life strategies that can be used at home, school, and in everyday situations.
Working Together with Parents
Supporting a child with big emotions or unique needs can be both rewarding and, at times, challenging. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Parent involvement is an important part of the counselling process. Alongside your child’s sessions, we may include dedicated time to connect, reflect, and explore practical strategies to support your child.
Parent sessions may include:
Check-ins to share progress and strategies
Practical tools to support your child at home
Guidance around routines and emotional support
Support for you as a parent, including space to reflect
This helps create consistency between sessions and home, allowing your child to build and apply new skills in their daily life.
What to Expect
The first session is a parent-only session, providing time to understand your child’s needs and create a thoughtful plan for support
Sessions are held online in a way that is engaging and age-appropriate, often incorporating art- and play-based approaches
Sessions are 50 minutes in length and may include parent check-in time; shorter sessions can be arranged if needed
Each session is paced to match your child’s attention, comfort, and readiness
